American author Suzanne Collins second book Catching Fire is the second in The HungerGames trilogy. It was released in 2009 as a follow-up of the 2008 money-maker"The Hunger Games".
This book continues thestory of the previous edition. The set-up remains the same- the fictional cityof Panem. After what occurs in the previous book- Katniss wins the 74th annualHunger games- it causes a rebel against the domineering and tyrannical Capitol.
More deaths follow butthere still remains a dash of hope. There are two chief themes in this book oneremains survival against all odds and the other is the theme of independenceversus interdependence. This book thus only improves upon the previous edition.
The book received praisesfrom the critics. Publishers Weekly evaluated the book writing, "If thissecond installment spends too much time recapping events from book one, itdoesn't disappoint when it segues into the pulse-pounding action readers have come to expect."
