Launching protest against "obscenity", some hardline Hindu organisations today tore posters of Mahesh Bhatt's Hindi movie Jism 2 -- released nationwide -- before a city theatre and later burnt the posters.
Activists of Bajrang Dal and its associated outfits rushed to Jytoi Talkies in MP Nagar area here this morning and tore the posters. The agitators, however, could not enter inside the theatre as the authorities closed the main gate.
The organisations' leaders alleged that obscenity is being spread among youths and minors through such films.
Besides cinema halls, posters were also seen in many places in the state capital, they said and warned of intensifying agitation, if minors were allowed to see the film.
City Superintendent of Police Samar Verma said that no case was registered in connection with the incident, but the police were keeping a close vigil over the development.
