Bhopal, Jul 6 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said a campaign will be launched to ensure that every village and city has its own water structure.
"Everyone has right over water. It will not be privatised. A law will be enacted to save the state's lakes," he said while addressing a Water Sanitation Scenario Workshop here, as per an official release.
Mr Chouhan also released a report 'Excreta Matters' prepared by the Centre for Science and Environment.
"Recharging of rivers is a major challenge. A scheme is being chalked out to free the Narmada of pollution and make it an ideal river. Deliberations should take place on 'whose development and at what cost'. Groundwater has its limitations. A water crisis has emerged since groundwater has not been recharged," he said.
