India, Egypt hold discussions on Defence cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 20 : India and Egypt today agreed to enhance defence cooperation in various areas, including increased interactions between their respective armed forces and through technology collaboration between the industries of the two countries.

Egyptian Defence Minister Gen Abdel Fattah al Sisi who called on Defence Minister A K Antony here, briefed him about the security situation in West Asia and in Egypta€™s neighbourhood.

He also invited Mr Antony to visit Egypt. Both sides took note of the gradual building up of defence

exchanges and interactions, particularly in the area of training exchanges, since the establishment of the Joint Defence Committee in 2006.

It was decided that opportunities for increasing cooperation would be discussed by both sides during the next meeting of the Joint Defence Committee which is expected to be held in the near future.

Gen al Sisi, is part of the delegation accompanying Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy during his visit to India.
