Parliament adjourned for the day amid ruckus

New Delhi, Mar 20 : Both Houses of the Indian Parliament were adjourned for the day after All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam ( AIADMK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) members created ruckus over the issue of ethnic Tamils in Sri Lanka while Samajwadi Party (SP) members disrupted the proceedings by demanding Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma's resignation.

In the Lok Sabha, DMK and AIADMK members went to the Well of the House and raised slogans on the issue of ethnic Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The SP members joined them and demanded Verma's resignation for his comments against party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Amid ruckus, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till noon.

SP members continued demanding the Union Minister's resignation after the House assembled on Tuesday. India's main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also demanded Verma's regination, forcing the Chair to adjourn the House till 12:30 pm.

The Lower House of the Parliament was later adjourned for the day.

Similar scenes were seen in the Rajya Sabha where DMK and AIADMK created ruckus over the issue of ethnic Tamils in Sri Lanka.

SP members on the other hand demanded immediate removal of Verma.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned several times before it was adjourned for the day as the members created ruckus in the House.
