Indian Revenue Service officer trainees call on President
New Delhi, Mar 18 : Officer trainees of the 66th Batch of Indian Revenue Service called on PresidentPranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Monday.
These officers are presently undergoing sixteen month training at an induction training programme in the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the structural changes of the Indian economy and its integration with the world economy have brought new challenges to the tax administration.
He advised the officer trainees that to face these challenges of complexity, they need to equip themselves with the domestic taxation laws as well as international business laws.
He asked them to continuously update themselves with the changes in the domestic as well as international laws.
Mukherjee said that good governance is the key for the development of the nation.
Ensuring inclusive growth, eradication of poverty, empowerment of people and creation of a just society are some of the challenges which need to be addressed, he said.
The 66th batch of officer trainees of the Indian Revenue Service, with a mix of urban and rural background, has representation from 19 States and 1 Union Territory. It comprises of 105 officers of which 29 are ladies.
