Bengal to get Rs 2000 cr ADB grant
Kolkata, Mar 15 : The Asian Development Bank (ADB) would provide a grant of Rs 2000 crore for the overall development of West Bengal, Finance Minister Amit Mitra told the Assembly today.
Mr Mitra said the aid from the ADB would be utilised for the development of education, health and infrastructure.
"We are committed to developing West Bengal in all respects and the ADB loan will help us in this regard," Mr Mitra observed.
He said the state was passing through 'financial crisis' that could not be 'overcome' without financial assistance.
Incidentally, in his budget statement for 2013-14 in the House on March 11, Mr Mitra said, " As Rs 32,000 crore of revenue come into our treasury, Rs 25,000 crore will exit the treasury, simply cut off by RBI to service the massive debt of over Rs 2 lakh crore, thrust upon us by the Left Front government. "
" The people of West Bengal today are having to bear the cross of fiscal anarchism and profligacy of CPI(M) and its associates, " Mr Mitra observed.
