ACB registers case against Costa and others

Panaji, Mar 14 : Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Vigilance police registred a case against dismissed Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI) Oden Champ da Costa and members of the Directorate of Transport for alleged submission of forged certificate and payment of bribes for the post of AMVI.

The case has been registered after Special Judge North Goa at Panaji passed an order following a complaint filed by Yaseer M Ismail of Porvorim against Oden Champ Da Costa, who was then working as Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector for the Directorate of Transport.

The case has been registered unders section 463,463,465,468,471 read with 120-B IPC & Sec 13(1)(d) r/w 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

Ismail, in his complaint dated 29/09/2011 addressed to the Police Inspector, had alleged that Oden Champ Da Costa had submitted two bogus experience certificates of Angel Auto Service and Rudy Enterprises and gained his appointment to the post of Asst. Motor Vehicle Inspector by paying bribe to the officials of the RTO and managed to get the job in a fraudulent way.

The services of Oden Champ Da Costa Motor vehicle Inspector, was terminated by the Director of Transport.
