New Pope massive fan of San Lorenzo soccer team

London, Mar. 15 : Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who was elected the new Pope Francis 1 on Wednesday, is an avid fan of the San Lorenzo de Almagro soccer team.

The Argentinian clergy man turned out to be a massive fan of San Lorenzo soccer team, which is one of the five most popular teams in his country, reports The Sun.

The 76-year-old even had his own San Lorenzo ID card in 2008.

Bergoglio has become the first Latin American Pope in the history of the Catholic Church and the first from the Jesuit order.

San Lorenzo has won 10 national tournaments and two regional ones, the Mercosur Cup in 2001 and the South American Cup in 2002.

San Lorenzo are having an average season in Primera A, currently sitting in 11th place.
