Panic grips Talcher coalfield after shooting by Miscreants
Angul, Mar 12 : Panic gripped Talcher coalfield after a person was shot at and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack in a serious condition.
Police said one Prakash Naik of Chiitalpur village was injured when two motorcycle borne youths fired two rounds at him from a pistol near Balaram coalmine while he was on way to attend a marriage on a bike.
While one round hit Prakash on his waist the other missed him.
Prakash, however, in his brief statement to police identified the culprits as Narahari Behera and Daitari Behera of his village.
Though Talcher SDPO Ban Behari Sahu attributed the cause of the firing to personal enmity, but it is widely suspected that rivalry on coal business led to the firing.
