National award winners Buddhadeb DG and Ananya Chatterjee join to begin for new venture
Kolkata, Mar 12 : National Award-winning director Buddhadeb Dasgupta and National Award-winning actress Kolkata girl Ananya Chatterjee are set to begin his bollywood venture, 'Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa'.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta has been the toast of international film festivals and is hailed as one of the most powerful filmmakers in contemporary India, who had earlier done three films in Hindi-- Andhi Gali, Bagh Bahadur and Woh-- is all set to start his fourth-- Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa. Starring in the film is Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Ananya Chatterjee.
Ananya is a Bengali film actress known for her National Award-winning role in 'Abahoman'. She started her career as a TV actress and acted in several TV serials and films, including three directed by Anjan Dutt. Her role as a muse of a married director in Abahoman by Rituparno Ghosh won her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
The film 'Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa' was initially supposed to be made in Bengali as Anwar Er Aschorjo Kahini.
'But, once I decided to make the film in Hindi, I immediately thought of Nawazuddin. I'm thoroughly impressed with his films and thought he would be able to do justice to Anwar, a middle-class Muslim man, who works as a small-time detective in an agency. He looks into trivial cases like looking up the background of a possible groom or why a person has suddenly gone missing,' says Dasgupta.
According to the director, " Ananya is a very talented actress so I have decided to take her in this film." Besides Nawazuddin and Ananya, others who have been selected in this film are Moushumi Bhattacharya, Sohini Pal and Rohit Roy.
The film will go on the floors on March 25 and will be shot in both Bihar and Bengal. Alokananda Dasgupta, daughter of the director, will be composing the music and the film will be produced by Delhi-based Leo Films.
