Rebuked by parents Madhyamik examinee committs suicide
Barrackpore, Mar 12 : Having been rebuked by his parents, a Madhyamik examinee allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train near Kanchrapara workshop halt station of Sealdah division of the Eastern Railway, police today said.
Government Railway Police said Rakesh Prasad(16), son of a Railway Workshop employee at Kanchrapara, died on the spot when he jumped in front of the train late last night.
The body had been sent for post-mortem, GRP said.
Rakesh sat for the just-concluded examination conducted by the West Bengal Board Secondary Education from the Mandhari High School of Kanchrapara.
In another incident, a 35-year old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband at Purani Bazar under Titagarh police station in North 24 Parganas late last night.
Police said Ruksana Bibi was stabbed with a knife by her husband Mumtaj Ali, a liquor addict following some altercations.
Ali fled away while the neighbours rushed Ruksana to the nearby B N Bose Sub-divisional Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police have registered a murder case against Ali.
