5 killed in fire in Assam village
Guwahati, Mar 12 : At least five people, including four minors, were killed in their sleep when a fire broke out and engulfed their houses at an interior village under Kasumara police station of Assam's Barpeta district late last night.
Police said today that the fire gutted the two houses late in the night and all the five people sleeping inside were killed.
The deceased include one 55-year-old woman and her 17-year-old son. The other were children of the family's relatives, who had stayed back after attending a wedding a couple of days back.
Several cattle heads, including cows and sheep, were also killed in the blaze.
There were no adjacent houses, which confined the fire to the victims' premises.
