Dabhol project likely to be handed over to Central Government
Mumbai, Mar 12 : Maharashtra Deputy chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who holds the energy portfolio, today informed the legislative council that the state government has received a proposal from Maharashtra Electricity distribution company to hand over 'Dabhol' power project in Ratnagiri district to the Central Government.
Replying to a query, Mr Pawar said due to non-availability of gas and purchase of gas from RGPL at higher rates, it was not affordable to the state government. Hence, the state government has a proposal to hand over the Dabhol Power project to the Central Government.
"We are looking at whether we will able to withdraw energy from Central Government's pool NTPC and in this regard the government has received a proposal from the electric distribution company," he said.
He said the government is studying the proposal. The government is also having a dialogue with the Central government pertaining to making available the additional APM and non-APM gas projects of the electric distribution company of the western region of the country.
