Ruckus in J and K Assembly over Guru's body
Srinagar, Mar 12 : The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed ruckus as People's Democratic Party (PDP) members demanded Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's body should be brought back to the state.
PDP members also protested against Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's statement that Guru's body will remain in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
Amid ruckus, PDP members reportedly jumped onto the reporters' tables on the floor of the House.
Independent MLA Abdul Rashid was seen throwing a mike in the House. The marshalls evicted him as he tried to throw chairs and tables, reports said.
State Law Minister Mir Saifullah addressed Guru as 'Afzal Guru sahib', making Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members strongly protest against it.
Speaker Mubarak Gul adjourned the House on three occasions following ruckus over the issue.
Guru was hanged at Delhi's Tihar Jail on Feb 9. The execution took place at 8 am and he was buried soon after at the jail, where he had been lodged for nearly eight years.
Guru's execution was initially scheduled for Oct 20, 2006. But it was stayed after Guru's wife filed a mercy petition with the President.
In December 2001, nine people were killed when five terrorists drove into the Parliament complex and opened fire. All the terrorists were shot dead.
Guru was arrested shortly after the attack and accused of planning it.
