Antony happy with defence allocation
New Delhi, Feb 28 : Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday said financial constraints will not come in the way of providing any additional requirement for the security of the nation even as Defence Minister AK Antony praised the union budget presented by his cabinet colleague and expressed happiness over the allocations.
Presenting the Union Budget 2013-14 in Lok Sabha on Thursday, Chidambaram announced to increase the allocation for defence to Rs. 2,03,672 crore which will include Rs. 86,741 crore for capital expenditure.
Defence Minister AK Antony later said: "Taking into account the difficult economic situation both at home and abroad, the Finance Minister has done a good job.
"The measures that he has outlined for the rejuvenation of the economy while ensuring inclusive growth are indeed commendable. Factoring the current economic scenario, he has been fair to the Defence Sector also by increasing the budget and assuring that should there be any urgent need in future the same would be provided," Antony said.
