Distribution of sweets in govt schools during national holidays: Mini
Bhopal, Feb 26 : Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Archana Chitnis today informed the Assembly that sweets are being distributed in government schools during national holidays such as Republic Day and Independence Day.
Replying to Rajkumar Mev (ruling Bharatiya Janata Party), the Minister said, "The government allocates adequate funds for such occasions."
Intervening -- after obtaining Speaker Ishwardas Rohani's permission -- Deputy Leader of the Opposition Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi said several private schools, including Carmel Convent School, do not distribute sweets during such occasions even after taking money for this purpose.
Ms Chitnis assured the House that action would be initiated against the school authorities.
