5 killed in three Assam accidents

By Hemanta Kumar Nath, Guwahati, Feb 24 : : Five people were killed and several injured in two separate incidents in Assam on Sunday morning, officials said.

Three people were killed and eight others injured in a road mishap in Nagaon district in the morning.

The accident took place on NH-37 near Rantholi under Raha police station.

"A bamboo laden truck fell down on a Tata Indica car after colliding with a truck," a police official said.

Three people killed on spot while the injured were admitted to Nagaon civil hospital.

The deceased people were identified as Sahjahan Ali and Irani Begum and another person is yet to be identified.

In another incident, one person was killed and two others were injured, when a truck skidded off from road and fell down at Palashbari area near Mirza in Kamrup (Rural) district on Sunday morning.

The injured were hospitalized.
