Five killed in Assam road mishap
By Hemanta Kumar Nath, Guwahati, Feb 22 : At least five people including two women were killed and eight others injured in a road mishap in Assam's Kamrup Rural district on Friday, police said.
The accident took place at Bhagawatipara near Palashbari in the district, where a person was killed on spot and 12 others injured in a head on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw.
The injured people were rushed to a local hospital, where four of them succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased people were identified as Damayanti Goswami, Ratna Kalita, Putul Ali, Prafulla Kalita and Amulya Kalita.
After the accident, angry villagers set the truck on fire.
