Kolkata, Feb 21 : The Marwari Relief Society Hospital established with the mission to bring medical facilities to the needy at affordable rates on Thursday declared to commemorate its Centenary year, here.
The Marwari Relief Society Hospital was established by some of the eminent Marwari enthusiasts and business magnates, on Mar 2, 1913.
According to the officials, since its inception many eminent people like Mahatma Gandhi, Lady Mountbatten, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Sarojani Naidu, Mother Teresa, C. Rajagopalchari, Jaiprkash Narayan and others have personally visited the Society and expressed their gratitude for the multifarious noble works being done by the Society.
One of the departments of the Society was inaugurated by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in 1938 and the Society has won many laurels, informed the officials.
At present the Society has separate departments for Sonography, Ayurved, Skin, Diet Clinic, Women Diseases, Indoor O.T., Dental, Homeopathy, Acupressure, Speech Therapy Odeometry, ENT, Natural, Eye Disease, Family Welfare, Child Development, Emergency, Baby, Leproscopic, Orthopedic, Physiotherapy Treatments as well as Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, Pediatric Intensive Cardiac Centre etc.
President, Marwari Relief Society Sajjan Bhajanka said, "It would not have been possible on the part of the Society to undertake all the aforesaid activities without the active support and help of our eminent donors and we take the opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to all of them for the trust reposed on it."
He added that the Centenary Year will observe repairs of its present building in a massive way, updating all departments by latest equipments.
General Secretary, Marwari Relief Society Govindram Agarwal said, "We continue to push the boundaries as a team and we constantly aspire to be the best we can be and provide superior clinical care to those we serve."
The Convenor Rajendra Kedia said, "A memorable granth will be released by West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayan, marking the achievements of the Marwari Relief Society since inception."
Convenor, Pawan Tibrewalla informed, "The Grand Centenary Year Samaroh to be celebrated on Mar 3, 2013 at Kala Mandir would be graced by the presence of M.K. Narayan, Governor of West Bengal."
"Centenary Year Celebrations will be followed by Bollywood Melodies performed by 'Parcham' and on this occasion, 25 eminent industrialists and philanthropic associated with the Marwari Relief Society will be honored."
