Russia meteor shower injures 400
Moscow, Feb 15 : More than 400 people were injured in Russia in a meteor shower above the Ural Mountains in central Russia on Friday morning, media reports said.
Many of the people were hurt by broken glass in sharp explosions that were triggered as fragments of the meteor fell over a thinly populated area of the Chelyabinsk region.
More than 400 people had sought medical treatment after the blasts, and at least three had been hospitalized in serious condition, a government official was quoted as saying.
Russian television broadcast video the meteor streaking across the sky at 9:20 a.m. local time (0320 GMT).
