Hisar, Feb 12 : The Defence Ministry has nominated internationally renowned scientist Prof Kuldip Singh Dhindsa as Chairman of Recruitment and Assessment Board of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Prof Dhindsa is widely recognised for his outstanding contributions in 'Inorganic and Bio-logical Chemistry' and development of eco-friendly agro-chemicals. He has won many prestigious fellowships and awards including Fulbright scholarship, the best scientist of year award for 2003 by National Environmental Science Academy, Dr Ambedkar National Sevaashri Award and Indian National Science Academy Award.
Talking to the mediapersons, Prof Dhindsa said it would be his privileged endeavour to assist the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) in selecting high caliber, goal-oriented scientists and hence make DRDO a most desirable work place dedicated to R and D in critical areas of defence technologies with a missionary spirits.
"Technologically sound, culturally compatible and environmentally positive research strategies alone would transform India into a major economic and strategic power not only in the region but in the entire world," he added.
Apart from annual assessment of scientists, the board also selects scientists through various recruitment schemes viz lateral entry, All India level Scientists Entry Test and Campus Selection from IITs etc among others.
