BSF seizes huge amount of FICN
Kolkata, Feb 12 : The Border Security Force on Tuesday said it has seized a huge contingent of Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) in West Bengal's Malda district.
"BSF South Bengal Frontier has traced and seized huge consignment of FICN which caused a major setback to the FICN Racketeer," the BSF said in a release.
"Late evening on 11th Feb 2013 at about 2000 hrs on specific information, a special ambush party of 125 Bn BSF has seized counterfeit Indian currency from the area of Churiantpur, under Police Station Kaliachak, District - Malda," it said.
The BSF said FICN smugglers threw a plastic packet containing FICN over the border fence towards the Indian side taking the advantage of darkness.
"However due to alertness of BSF men, they failed in their attempt," it said.
"The BSF seized the plastic packet which contained the FICN of following denomination: 200 Notes of Rs 1000 ( 200x100= 2,00,000/- Face value ) 200 Notes of Rs 500 (200x500= 1,00,000/- Face value); Total 3,00000/-," said the release.
A case has been registered under Kaliachak police station for further investigation and prosecution.
During the year 2012, BSF Ftr South Bengal seized Rs 53,29,500 FICN and during the current year in the month of Jan, they seized Rs 5,39,500 FICN. --IBNS
