New Delhi, Feb 6 : A 19-year-old woman, who had been allegedly attacked and raped by an electrician at her residence in Lajpat Nagar area of New Delhi a day ago, is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS hospital here, said reports on Wednesday.
The accused had been arrested on Tuesday.
The attacker has reportedly shoved an iron rod down the woman's throat before raping her, which was initially used by the woman to protect herself from the man.
The women was alone at her home in the evening when the electrician appeared drunk at her door, reports said.
The electrician had even worked at the victim's home in the past and lives in the same neighbourhood.
According to police reports, the victim tried to turn him away but he forced his way in.
She tried to hit the man with the iron rod but was instead injured by the accused.
Her screams alarmed the neighbours, who rushed into her house and moved her to hospital.
