By John Edwards, Panaji, Feb 5 : The Goa Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) of politicizing the mining crisis in the state.
At a press briefing on Tuesday evening, BJP spokesman Pramod Sawant said they have always had sympathetic views towards the issues of the people affected due to mining closure.
NCP Chief Sharad Pawar had met the pro-mining agitators at Azad Maidan on Monday and assured to lead a delegation to address their problems to Delhi.
Sawant argued that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has already decided to lead all-party delegation to Delhi at an appropriate time.
"Pawar's assurance of heading delegation to Delhi is unwarranted. NCP is trying to politicize the issue. If he (Pawar) wants to help the people he should get a financial package for them from the Centre," he said.
Parrikar has nonetheless welcomed Pawar's intervention to solve the issue as he says: "He (Pawar) will take up the matter with the Centre with seriousness."
