Manmohan Singh's honest image of no use: Yechury
Kolkata, Feb 4: Calling the UPA regime as the 'most corrupt' one since independence, CPI(M) Politburo member Sitaram Yechury today said the honest image of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was of no use.
"What is the use of the honest and intelligent image of the Prime Minister when this regime is the most corrupt since Independence? For him (PM), the US is God and he blindly follows its neo liberal policies. This is creating two Indias-- one a poor India and another a rich India," Mr Yechury said while addressing a rally here.
He said the government failed to control the 2G and coal scams which made the state coffer too poor to provide foodgrains to the people at subsidised rates.
"The Congress says the Prime Minister is an honest person. We never raise question about his personal integrity. But what is the use of it when the country's resources are being plundered," he said.
Mr Yechury said the policies of the government were only protecting the interests of the rich and it was time that people looked for parties with alternative policies.
"Look for parties with alternative policies. Both BJP and Congress follow the same economic policies. It is only parties with alternative policies that can make the difference," he said.
