Mumbai, Feb 4 : A 21-year-old youth who was arrested for the murder of his mother, has confessed to the crime and said "he has no remorse for killing his mother".
In his confessional statement before the local MIDC police station, he said he was relieved that his mother was no more.
The accused, Nilesh Uttam Gawli (21), killed his mother Nanda Uttam Gawli (39) last weekend after a domestic dispute at their residence in Shivkrupa Jankalyan slum at Indira Nagar in Jogeshwari area.
The murder was witnessed by the 12-year-old sister of the accused, who was present in the room. After killing his mother, the accused called the Police Control Room and informed them about the incident.
When the police arrived, the accused was still sitting besides the corpse of his mother inside the shanty.
Senior Police Inspector Suresh Hujband, MIDC Police Station said "It is a shocking incident and all we can say that it is an extremely rare case".
According to police reports, Nilesh's father was out of town and he had been avoiding going to work. This became a bone of contention between Nilesh and his mother Nanda, who kept berating him for neglecting work.
On Saturday night, the conflict came to a bitter end, when Nilesh, in a fit of rage, strangulated his mother.
Nilesh's neighbours alleged that he was constantly fighting with his mother, aware that she was suffering from tuberculosis. Sources added that Nilesh left studies after he failed in his SSC examination.
