Kolhapur, Feb 4 : Hundreds of Shiv Sena workers, including women, today staged an agitation in a novel way by resorting to five 'Muk Pradakhina' (silent circumambulations) around temple of Goddess Mahalaxmi, to protest against their various demands.
At least 400 Sena workers, led by district unit presidents Sanjay Pawar and Vijay Devne, gathered in Mahalaxmi temple premises and took five circumambulations silently around the temple praying the Goddess Mahalaxmi to give good intellect to office-bearears of the Western Maharashtra Devasthan Committee (WMDC) to solve their various demands.
They were demanding for enhanced security in and around the temple premises, declaration of cash amount and other gifts received through donation, conduct an enquiry into recruitment in WMDC,construction of shades for devotees waiting in long queues, eviction of all encroachments in the premises of temple.
Later, a delegation of Sena workers met WMDC office-bearer and handed over a memorandum of their demands.
