Kolhapur, Feb 4 : Sandhya Kupekar, wife of late Babasaheb Kupekar, today filed her nomination paper as NCP nominee for the February 24 by-election to the Chandgad assembly constituency.
Ms Kupekar filed her papers before Chandgad tehsildar, in the presence of Home Minister R R Patil, party president Madhukar Pichad, labour minister Hasan Mushrif and MLA and district unit party president K P Patil among others.
Fifteen candidates filed their nomination papers till today. Prominant among them are Sunil Shintre of Shiv Sena and Rajendra Gaddyanwar of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) led by MP Raju Shetty.
The last date for filing of nominations is February six.
The by-election to the Chandgad assembly constituency was necessitated following the death of Krishnrao Rakhmajirao Kupekar alias Babasaheb Kupekar, working chairman of State Planning Commission, who passed away on September 26 last year.
