Shimla, Feb 3 : Heavy snowfall and rains are likely to lash Himachal Pradesh next week, the Met department said Sunday.
"Certain areas in Shimla, Kinnaur, Chamba, Kullu, Kangra and Lahaul and Spiti districts are likely to experience heavy snowfall and rains till Feb 6," an official statement from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Heavy rainfall may also occur at some places in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan and Mandi districts, IMD said.
The government has warned tourists not to venture in the high hills as chances of road cave-ins and landslides are high owing to snowfall.
The interior areas of the state, especially in Shimla, Kinnaur, Chamba, Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti districts, remained closed to traffic for almost a week after heavy snowfall Jan 17-19.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest town in the state with a low of minus 6.1 degrees Celsius Sunday.
The minimum temperatures in Shimla and Manali were 4.1 degrees Celsius and -1.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Kalpa, some 250 km from the state capital Shimla, saw the night temperature dropping to -4 degrees Celsius, while Dharamsala was slightly warmer at 7.4 degrees Sunday.
