65 farmers from Kashmir to tour Punjab, Haryana, Jammu

Srinagar, Jan 30 : Under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Rashtriya Kisan Vikas Yojana (RKVY), 65 farmers from Badgam and Bandipora will visit different universities and research institutions in Punjab, Haryana and Jammu.

Officials said here today a group of 45 farmers of district Budgam under ATMA was flagged off by District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad for a 10-day extensive tour of outside the state.

The farmers shall be visiting Punjab Agriculture University Pantnagar, Agricultural University Hisar, National Dairy Research Institute Karnal, Indo Israel Vegetable Project Karnal, Agricultural Department farms, Research Stations, SKUAST Jammu, Horticulture Development Farm, Ramban and other relevant places during the tour.

The touring farmers will get themselves imparted with latest technology in the field of agriculture, allied sectors and interact with agri scientists and fellow farmers to bring latest technology with them after their return and apply this technology in their fields.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Budgam said objective of such tours is to make farmers aware about latest research in agriculture and allied sectors.
