India tells Rehman Malik to worry about Pak citizens first
New Delhi, Jan 29 : Union Home Secretary R K Singh today said India is capable of providing security to its citizens, a day after Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik's statement that the Indian government should provide security to actor Shah Rukh Khan
''We are quite capable of looking after security of our own citizens... let him (Malik) worry about security of his own,'' Mr Singh said
Mr Malik yesterday sparked controversy over Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's remarks about the problems purportedly faced by Indian Muslims, saying the Indian government should provide the actor security
''He (Shah Rukh) is born Indian and he would like to remain Indian, but I will request the government of India (to) please provide him security. I would like to request all Indian brothers and sisters and all those who are talking in a negative way about Shah Rukh, they should know he is a movie star,'' Malik said
Mr Malik made the remarks while interacting with reporters at a reception organised by High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal to mark India's Republic Day
Shah Rukh found himself at the centre of another controversy after his comments on being a Muslim led to Jamaat-ud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed saying the star could move to Pakistan.
