Agartala, Jan 29 : Toll in last night's firing by a TSR jawan rose to three with the death of Lance Nayak Bimal Bahadur Rai at a hospital

The Tripura State Rifles 8th battalion jawan succumbed to injuries when rifleman Binoy Debbarma fired indiscriminately at the recreation club in Thamcharaipara of Dhalai district

Debbarma is still absconding with his service SLR and a few rounds of ammunition. Despite massive search overnight he was not found. Police suspect he might have fled to Bangladesh

Binoy went berserk and shot dead two of his colleagues and injured three after an altercation over the manifestos of the ruling CPI(M) and opposition Congress over the service benefit of TSR offered in the manifestos

Binoy got agitated when two of his colleagues of the 10th battalion opposed to vote for a particular party. He then resorted to indiscriminate firing which claimed the lives of two jawans of the 10th battalion identified as Utpal Datta and Ullas Mian

Injured Bimal and two others were rushed to the Agartala Government Medical College

TSR's 8th and 10th battalion jawans were brought together at Thamcharaipara camp on the Indo-Bangladesh border last week ahead of the February 23 assembly polls
