Assam: Explosion in oil pipeline

Militants of anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) triggered an explosion in an oil pipeline in Assam's Tinsukia district on Monday night, said police.

The militants triggered the explosion in the oil pipeline at Pachim Mamoroni area near Makum in the district.

Paresh Baruah alias Paresh Asom led ULFA took responsibility of the explosion.

In a statement, ULFA said they had used Magnetic Programmable Time Device (MPTD) in the explosion.

ULFA is active in upper Assam and some parts of Arunachal Pradesh.

The militant group are continuing recruitment drive in upper Assam, the police said.
