The father of the 23-year-old medical student, who was gang raped and brutalised on a moving bus in Delhi on December 16 said all the six accused should be hanged.
"The punishment should not be less even if he is a juvenile. They all deserve the same punishment. They all should be hanged," NDTV quoted him as saying.
"It will be a crime to let a man who committed such a heinous crime go scot free. We will go to court and appeal. We will do whatever we have to," said the bereaved father.
The Juvenile Justice Board on Monday declared the sixth accused in the Delhi gangrape case as a juvenile. Consequently, he will be tried in the case as a minor.
He had submitted his school certificates to prove that he is a juvenile and his school principal earlier said that the date of birth of the accused is June 4, 1995. This makes him 17 years and six months old at the time of the crime.
The Juvenile Justice Board has accepted his school certificates.
Being a minor, the accused can only be tried under the Juvenile Justice Act.
He can be sent to a juvenile remand home for a maximum period of three years for his crime.
However, reports quoting police sources said the cops were seeking legal opinion on the age issue and have the trial of the juvenile along with the other five accused.
