BSF personnel offer sweets to Pakistan Rangers on India's Republic Day

Border Security Force (BSF) officials gave sweets to their Pakistan Ranger counterparts at Zero line at the Attari-Wagah international border on Saturday on the occasion of celebrations associated with India's 64th Republic Day.

Visitors from various parts of the country witnessed the event.

BSF commandant V.V. Gosain gave sweet boxes to Pakistan Rangers Wing Commandant Adnan Sher, who also congratulated the BSF officials on India's Republic Day.

Later talking to media, Gosain said this gesture of exchanging sweets between the two neighboring countries is performed on many occasions, including during the Independence Day of both countries, Eid and Diwali etc.

The Attari-Wagah joint check post in the Punjab sector is also famous for its the daily evening Retreat ceremony, which is conducted by the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers to mark the lowering of Indian and Pakistani flags and closure of gates at the border for the night.

In recent years, the land route has been extensively used for trade between both countries.
