Man City teen star charged over deaths of Indian-origin brother, sister in fatal crash
Manchester City teen star Courtney Meppen-Walter has been charged with causing death of a brother and sister of Indian origin by slapdash or inconsiderate driving after a crash last year.
18-year old Meppen-Walter was arrested last September when his powerful Mercedes was in collision with a Nissan Micra in which Kulwant Singh, 32, and his 37-year-old sister Ravel Kaur were killed, the Daily Mirror reports.
Ravel's sons, aged 16 and 17, were in the back of the Micra and suffered serious injuries in the collision in Manchester but are making a good recovery, the paper added.
Today the 1,000 pound-a-week defender, who has been at City since 2003 and has represented England at under-17 level, answered bail and was charged with two offences of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving, the paper reported.
Meppen-Walter will appear before magistrates in Manchester next month and if convicted, he could face up to five years in jail.
The tragedy happened in September last year and Singh and Kaur, both from Salford, were pronounced dead at the scene, the paper concluded.
