Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday said election of Rajnath Singh as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president is not a matter of concern for the ruling party.
"It is BJP's internal matter. We are not at all bothered about who becomes president of which party," Digvijaya Singh told reporters on Wednesday.
"We are only concerned about the people of the country," he said.
Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh was elected the president of the party unopposed on Wednesday, ending weeks of speculation over the outgoing chief Nitin Gadkari who chose not to seek an re-election after facing revolt in the party itself over business malpractice charges against him.
He filed his nomination papers Wednesday and was elected uncontested to take over from Nitin Gadkari.
Rajnath Singh assumed the position for the period 2013 to 2015, thus beginning his second term as the BJP chief.
