King and Queen of Bhutan - Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Ashi Jetsun Pema - will pay a State Visit to India from Jan 23-30, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday.
The King of Bhutan has been invited by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee to be the Chief Guest for the Republic Day celebrations of 2013.
"While in India, HM the King of Bhutan will meet with the President of India. The Vice President of India, Prime Minister, Chairperson of the UPA, Finance Minister, External Affairs Minister, Home Minister, and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, National Security Advisor and Foreign Secretary will be calling on HM the King of Bhutan," said the MEA.
"The unique and special relations between India and Bhutan are characterized by everlasting friendship, deep understanding and mutual trust. The visit of HM the King of Bhutan will contribute to further strengthening and expanding the close bilateral relations between our two countries," it said.
