Thousands of supporters of Om Prakash Chautala clashed with police outside a Delhi court ahead of the sentencing of the former Haryana chief minister and his son in a corruption case on Tuesday.
Reports said the number of protesters was as high as 8,000.
The police used batons and teargas to keep the mob in control.
On January 16, Om Prakash Chautala, his son Ajay and 53 others were convicted of recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained teachers between 1999 and 2000 in exchange of money.
The former chief minister faces up to seven years in jail.
