'Role of IT in Futuristic Defence Modernisation' will be the focal theme of the two-day national conference on IT in Defence organised by Computer Society of India and DRDO, beginning here on January 23.
Briefing reporters here, CSI Local Unit Chairman C R Chakravarthy said today that nearly 250 experts from across three arms of defence forces, DRDO,private IT sector and PSUs would take part in the deliberations which include various sessions and an exhibition.
Andhra Pradesh Governor and former IB chief E S L Narasimhan will inaugurate the conference which has attracted experts like Dr Prahlada, Vice Chancellor Defence Institute of Armament Technology, Prof S V Raghavan, Special Secretary, Office of Principal Scientific Advisor to union government and Dr Gulshan Rai, Director General, CERT India.
'Armed forces today are complex in nature. With network centric warfare and with mean time to react reducing rapidly, IT becomes central to modernisation strategy.
IT is now increasingly used to enhance capabilities, integrate, communicate and compute at an accelerating velocity,' Dr Chakravarthy, who is the Former Director of Computer and SAG, DRDO, said.
The objective of this conference is to bring all the three arms of armed forces, intelligence agencies, DRDO, academia and the IT industry to discuss the role of it in modern battlefield scenario,he added.
