An assistant sub-inspector and in-charge of police control room (PCR) was today suspended and then arrested after he was found guilty in connection with teasing and making obscene acts against a woman constable here.

"The accused ML Sharma has been sexually harassing Malti Kori -- a widow -- and making obscene acts for the past five months while she was on duty and used to call on her cell phone at night and indulged in obscene talk," Additional Superintendent of Police Tarun Nayak said.

Mr Nayak said Sharma was cautioned several times but he did not relent and on Thursday last, the ASI held the woman's hand before the staff members, who rescued her.

Sharma was sent to jail after being produced in court today.
