Our future action plan will again capture people's minds and heart: Manmohan Singh
Prime Minster Manmohan Singh on Sunday expressed confidence that the future action plan upheld by the Congress Working Committee (CWC) during three-day-long Chintan Shivir held here, will certainly recapture the mind and hearts of the people.
Addressing the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting here on the concluding day of the brainstorming session, Singh emphasised that the government is committed for economic reforms in order to accelerate economic growth of the country.
At the end of his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the seven-point agenda as he described the Jaipur meeting has reaffirmed the commitments of the Congress to its core values:
. Economic reforms designed to accelerate economic growth of the country
. Inclusive development with special emphasis on women development and poverty eradication with special focus on education, healthcare and sustainable rural development.
. Women empowerment with special emphasis on their safety and security and eliminating gender based impartiality.
. Effective action to meet the challenges of growing urbanisation.
. Massive programme for skill development.
. Improving quality of governance, curbing corruption and promoting through Panchayati Raj Vyawastha.
. Pursuit of foreign policy based on protecting our national interests.
"Congress has a long history, and are proud of that. But, at present we are facing some new constrains and we are able to face them with our commitment and new strategies. And if the Congress moves ahead with this agenda, I do not see why the Congress will not capture the hearts of minds and people again," said Singh.
He further emphasised that only Congress understands the needs of the country and knows how to solve its problems.
