Kolkata hosts championship dog show

The "Pedigree Championship Dog Show" hosted by Pedigree and The Calcutta Kennel Club is all set to be a memorable canine extravaganza for dog lovers of the city.

Spread across four days from Jan 17 to 21, the championship show is organized at Calcutta Kennel Club in Park Street.

The event is likely to witness country-wide participation from over 500 dogs of more than 56 breeds.

The event is aimed at imbibing ideology of responsible pet ownership while, raising awareness about pet care amongst public at large.

Packed with actions like Judging of Gun Dogs, Judging of Utility Dogs and Working Dogs, this championship dog show promises to be an eventful experience.

There will be many other championship activities every day such as Gun Dog and Obedience Judging followed by prize distribution ceremonies. The shows will be judged by a panel of elite judges.

The first day of this championship dog show on Thursday saw a presence of a huge crowd of pet lovers.

The activities included Doberman Judging followed by Judging of Great Dean by C. V. Sudarshan, Secretary of the Kennel Club of India.

Pet lovers were seen enjoying magical moments with their furry friends.

The show ended at 6 pm and was followed by the prize distribution ceremony.

The visitors not only enjoyed the spectacular treat but also learned about various aspects related to the behavioral patterns of pets.

Nitin Kulkarni, Director, Corporate Affairs, Mars India said, "This championship event has also given an opportunity to educate and inform pet parents on selecting the right breeds and taking care of their pets."
