Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today said the state government has sanctioned Rs two crore for construction of Martyr Tukaram Ombale's 'Smarak' at his native place Kedanbe in Satara district.
Constable Ombale had lost his life while capturing lone Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, in the 26/11 attack on the commercial capital of the country, claiming lives of 166 people and injuring more than 250 others.
Kasab was subsequently, hanged to death in November last year.
Mr Pawar said in a statement here that the government has already sanctioned the amount and a plot would be made available by the Gram panchayat. After getting a clear title, the construction of 'Smarak' would start.
He said out of Rs two crore, one crore would be given in this financial year and remaining Rs one crore would be made available in the next financial year, the statement added.
