4 killed, 21 injured in Assam road mishap

At least four people were killed and 21 others injured in two separate road mishaps in Assam on Tuesday, officials said.

Two people were killed and 20 others were injured in a road accident at NH-37 near Kuthori Baghmari of Kaziranga, where a passenger bus (AS- 01- L- 4959) fell in a deep gorge off the road.

"The bus skidded off the road and fell in a deep gorge," a police official said.

Two people were killed on the spot, while other injured passengers were admitted to a nearest hospital.

One of the deceased was identified as Abdul Malek.

The bus was on its way to Jorhat from Nagaon when the accident occurred.

In a separate incident, a speeding Maruti Swift car (AS- 16- B- 4512) hit three people at Gobardhana near Chaigaon in Kamrup district on Tuesday morning.

"Two people were killed on the spot when the speeding car hit them," a local villager said.

The deceased people were identified as Dinesh Nath and Joykumar Nath.

Other injured person Pulak Das was rushed to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
