Hawker dies of heart attack, ACP Vasant Dhoble shifted out of Mumbai
Sensing a political fallout after the death of a hawker during a raid conducted by ACP Vasant Dhoble in Vakola, the Maharashtra Government has immediately ordered a CID probe and transferred the police official outside Mumbai.
Dhoble has been in the news for the last two years. He came into the limelight for carrying out raids on late-night parties and bars, and then, was shifted to Vakola division.
Sadanand Date, Joint CP (Law and Order) said, Dhoble has been transferred and his place will be taken by another offcer. The state CID will probe the incident, he added.
Hawker Madan Kumar Jaiswal, 46, suffered a massive heart attack on Friday when Dhoble carried out a raid in Vakola. He was rushed to V N Desai Hospital, where he died.
A number of political leaders reached the scene to express sympathy. Congress MP Priya Dutt, Congress MLA Kripa Shankar Singh, NCP MP Sanjay Patil and BJP Mumbai unit chief Raj Purohit visited the hospital.
Congress MLA Kripa Shankar Singh on Friday demanded tough action against Dhoble after the hawker's death.
Congress Member of Parliament Priya Dutt said the death was unfortunate, and added that all parties are united in their demand for tough action against errant police officers.
