Churu, Pilani and Abu reel under sub zero temperature

The desert towns of Churu and Pilani and the hill station of Mount Abu recorded sub zero temperature even as almost entire Rajasthan shivered under intense cold wave during the past 24 hours.

Churu Pilani towns in the Shekhwati region of the desert state groaned under minus 2.7 degree and minus 1.4 degree Celsius last night even as the mercury at the only hill station of the state was touching the mark of 0.5 degree Celsius this morning, Meteorology Office sources said here.

Most of the stations in the state recorded minimum temperatures less than 5 degrees.

While Banasthali recorded 0.8 degrees, Dausa and Rajsamand shivered at 1.5 degrees and in Pink City here the mercury dipped further by 0.9 degree to stay at 2.3 degrees this morning.

Likewise, Bikaner(2.6 degrees),Udaipur(3.2 degrees) and Jaisalmer (4.0 degrees) were also swept by icy Himalayan winds.

The biting cold has affected adversely life at many places like Churu, Pilani and even cities like Jaipur, Dausa, Bharatpur and Rajsamand.

In Churu, where the mercury stayed at minus 2.2 degrees yesterday, water supply was also affected due to frozen pipelines.
