The 37th Kolkata Book Fair will start on January 26 for a 16-day extravaganza.
Bangladesh would be the country in focus in the Book Fair this year, Publishers and Booksellers Guild, the organisers, today said.
Apart from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bangladesh Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and novelist Anisur Jaman are expected to be present at the inugural session, Book Fair Organising Committee Secretary Tridib Chatterjee said.
Following a request by Ms Banerjee, the organisers had decided to extend the fair by three days. It was rescheduled to January 26 instead of January 29. The fair will come to an end on February ten.
Mr Chatterjee said the Kolkata Literary Meet that was introduced as part of the Kolkata Book Fair last year would take place from January 30 to February three.
"Nobel laureates Amartya Sen and Muhammed Yunus are likely to attend the meet," he said.
Like every year, special transport arrangements would also being made by the organisers during the period of the fair.
