A driver today went missing as his pick up van plunged into turbulent Teesta river after being hit by a gas-laden tanker on NH 31A linking Sikkim with Siliguri in West Bengal.
Additional superintendent of police, Kalimpong, Sangmit Lepcha said the head-on collission happened at the 28th mile when Siliguri bound van and Gangtok bound tanker failed see to each other in the foggy condition hill track.
After being hit the pick up van went off the road and rolled down deep into the Teesta river. Both the vehcile and the driver were untraceable in the muddy water.
